If You Choose A Ceramic Tile Floor, It Will Be An Asset To Your Decor

When you are choosing ceramic tiles flooring, you need to decide first whether it is the right thing to use. If you make that decision in the affirmative, you must then decide how you can best use the tiles to complement the decor of the room that you're decorating.

Is a Ceramic Tile Floor the Right Choice?

Ceramic tiles are quite popular to use as a flooring material, since they are both durable and easy to maintain. However, they are quite slippery, and you might have second thoughts about using them for your bathroom.

The easiest solution to this problem would be to always use a bath mat. A safer solution would be to use special "pitted" tiles, which have a rougher surface to prevent slipping. They are more difficult to clean, but the added insurance is probably worth the trouble.

Since a ceramic floor tile is quite stiff and brittle, you should make sure that you choose the correct grade of tile for how it is to be used. Here is a description of the specs for each class of tile, with an example of its use:

Ceramic floor tile feels cold to the touch, so if you want to go barefoot, you will have to learn to jump from one area rug to the next. Or an increasingly popular solution would be to install a heating grid beneath the tiles before setting them. This is not all that hard to do, nor that expensive.

How Do I Use Ceramic Tiles Flooring to Beautify the Room?

There are endless possibilities for using these tiles in innovative ways to bring out the beauty of a room. Ceramic floor tile can be made to look like wood, stone, cement, or other textures, and in some cases it is less costly.

A ceramic tile floor can have different patterns in different areas of the room. Consider having the tiles in the main floor area set at a 45 degree angle to the walls. And varying sizes or even colors in the pattern can have a unique graphic impact.

Older ceramic floor tile has an uneven texture, and should be set in a simple pattern. It is a good fit for rooms with traditional, old-style furniture.

So you see, there is no need for your floor to look boring, like a big piece of white graph paper. Use your imagination. And if you are lacking in that department, get some help from your spouse!

I don't know about this jumping from one rug to another to keep from stepping on your ceramic tiles. Personally, I like the coolness of the tiles on my bare feet - especially in the summertime.

I'm renting an apartment that has ceramic tile flooring, and it's very nicely done. The tiles are 12" squares in an unglazed ceramic material. There isn't any pattern on them - just random clay-colored patterns of red and gold. I don't even want to use any rugs, since the floor looks so nice by itself.

Flooring and Floor Mats

By Francesco Zinzaro
The least you are able to do for your kitchen area staff is provide a bit of cushioning for the long hours they spend on their feet. Kitchen mats, when correctly selected and utilized, provide traction for employees, minimize accidental breakage, and keep floors cleaner as well. Rubber mats are arguably the most pleasant, but the longest-wearing mats contain nylon cords melded towards the rubber.
